Transition Component (Aftercare)

This program component is a minimum if 9 months. The purpose of the portion of the program is to allow the youth to incorporate his new coping skills by interacting with family, peers, and the community, while still maintaining the support and structured environment of the Rehabilitation Academy.

Transition Component: Organized in four phases. There are two 30-days phases and two 70-days phases. Each phase is denoted by different colored shirt so that each can be identified to the phase they are in.

Phase One (Red Shirt): This is the Knowledge Phase. It is the initial orientation period lasting about 30 days and is characterized by an introduction of the youth to a less restrictive environment allowing the residents to interact with each other and the Motivational Instructors in a less formal manner.

Phase Two (Green Shirt): This is the Responsibility Phase. It is characterized by requiring youth to take responsibility for assigned duties, homework, and appropriate behavior without constant intervention and direction of Motivational Instructors.

Phase Three (Dark Blue Shirt): This is the Accountability Phase. It is characterized by requiring youth to demonstrate accountability for themselves with regards to their behavioral choices and requires then to demonstrate willingness to hold others accountable as well. Residents are also required to set goals for themselves and develop support systems to meet those goals.
