Rehabilitation Academy Component
This recruit training component is a minimum of six (6) months or one hundred eighty (180) training days. Progression of the recruit through the training cycle is based on individual performance in three program areas, to include:

Mental Health
Military Portion: Organized in four phases. Each phase is 45 days. Each phase is denoted by a cover (hat) so that each can be identified to the phase they are in.
Phase One(Red Cover): The initial socialization period lasting about 45 days and is characterized by a modification of self-esteem based upon a criminal value system and strict compliance with all orders.
Phase Two(Gold Cover): approximately 45 days and is characterized by a linkage of action and consequences through removal of peer pressure, self-examination, challenging criminal beliefs, and modification of initial confrontation.
Phase Three(Blue Cover): Approximately 45 days and is characterized by an establishment of self-esteem based upon meeting the goals of the program and continuing to challenge criminal beliefs. The Motivational Instructor role changes from disciplinarian to mentor/role model.
Phase Four(Green Cover): approximately 45 days and is characterized by consistent application of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. The end state is characterized be an internalization of appropriate beliefs, consistent demonstration of the ability to cognitively process and arrive at logical and acceptable courses of behavior, anger control, and awareness of the consequences for behavior
